Worth the Hype? Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation
Wet n Wild launched a new foundation a few months ago as part of their Photo Focus line. It seemed like every beauty influencer loved this foundation- even with varying skin types! But as with all things in the beauty community, no one really talks about it much anymore. So is it actually that great? I decided to find out for myself!
This is a drugstore foundation, and I have only seen it in my local CVS stores. It comes in 20 different shades which is pretty awesome- looks like a great range of undertones and shades! I think they could probably expand on the deeper end of the spectrum, but there’s more than the normal 2 or 3 so here’s hoping they continue to expand. And I love that they have the undertones and shade right on the packaging- color matching made easy! The foundation retails for about $6 (!!!) and has a natural finish that leans on the dewy side. It starts out medium coverage but is definitely buildable. The spatula applicator takes some getting used to but I don’t mind it so much now. I tried both a sponge and a brush with this product. Both work, but I definitely prefer the coverage I get with the sponge.
But what about the wear time? I was testing this foundation in the peak of summer with crazy humidity. And I have to say- it performed better than expected! It did start to break up around my nose and chin after about 6 hours of wear. But if I prepped with a good primer and baked, I didn’t have any issues! I never looked greasy or oily but I never got cakey either! This foundation is also supposed to be great with flash photography. The biggest bummer about this product for me is that it’s so hard to find! My local Target carries Wet n Wild, but not the foundations. I have to hunt around different drugstores in my area to figure out which ones carry it! Since I got back from vacation, I haven’t been able to wear this because I need to pick up a new shade!
In case it isn’t obvious, I totally think this one is worth the hype. I’m not sure if I would call it a dupe for the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation, but it’s definitely a great alternative. And you can’t beat the price- under $10! I would definitely recommend this for all skin types- just be sure to prep with a good mattifying primer if you’re oily.
