Valentine’s Tutorial: Soft & Romantic

If I’m being honest, I’ve never been super into Valentine’s Day. I really don’t like roses, and going to a crowded restaurant and calling it “romantic” just doesn’t make sense to me. But, last year we made gumbo at home and it was sooo good so I can’t wait! Instead of just wearing my sweatpants, I figured I’d actually put on a real outfit and makeup. Here’s the makeup I plan to wear:

Base

We’re not going anywhere, but I still want some “natural” enhancement. My go-to foundation when I want a more natural finish is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (shade Nude). This is my default foundation when I don’t want anything too dewy or too matte. Since I don’t want that dramatic highlighted effect, I’m using the Born This Way Concealer (shade Light) underneath my eyes. Usually, I’m all about the Shape Tape life (just not for this occasion). To set my concealer, I plan to use the RCMA No Color Powder. I got mine off of Beautylish.

Eyes

For my eyebrows, I’m sticking with my tried and true Benefit Soft & Natural Brow Kit (shade 3). Goof proof to fill in, Ready Set Brow to set, and High Brow to highlight. For the eyes, nothing screams soft and romantic like the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom. I’m basically going to use the bottom row for my complete eye look. Sweetheart in the crease, Rebel to define the outer V, Leader as an eyeliner and Funny Girl all over the lid. I’ll highlight the inner corners with Charmer. To finish the eyes, I’ll pop on some L’Oreal Carbon Black Mascara.

Finishing Touches

Just a few final touches for this valentine’s tutorial! To contour and warm up the complexion, I’ll use Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (full review here). Just lightly along the hollows of the cheekbones and the temple/forehead. For blush, the pinky tint of Tarte 12 Hour Blush in Exposed will be perfect. For that natural glow, Essence Pure Nude highlight is freaking perfect! Finally, for the lips ColourPop’s Ultra Satin Lip in November will finish off this monochromatic look.

Despite this look using a full face of products, the end result will be more on the natural side. I plan to go light handed and not smoke things out too much. To see the final look, I’ll be sure to post on my Instagram! In case you’re not following me, you can check out my feed here.
