Ulta Haul- High End and Drugstore!

September 15, 2016Haul, , , Standard

Now, I know I was just saying that I was in a shopping drought and trying not to order makeup. Well the drought is now a flood. I blame Labor Day Weekend. Although, this is a combination of multiple orders that started before Labor Day….butttt I’m still gonna blame Labor Day. And 5x points on Tarte. And I’m super bummer their Shape Tape is permanently out of stock. This was going to be a mini-haul but I ended up with more orders and now I have quite a few of products to talk about. So I’ll try to keep this short and sweet.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Light to Medium

I’m in love with Benefit’s Gimme Brow for a quick brow, especially for work days when I just don’t seem to have enough time to get ready. I’ve been on the hunt for a more affordable alternative and have heard good things about img_4790this brow product from L’Oreal so I figured I’d give it a try. The wand is not as small as the Gimme Brow wand but I actually don’t mind that because I feel like it takes me even less time to apply since it’s literally two or three swipes and then I’m done. The color is really nice and natural for me, although I’m not sure how this would work for super fair people or platinum blondes. I’m actually super impressed with this and plan to play around with it even more to see how it layers with other products!

Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner

I was nicely surprised by this one! When I first heard about it, I thought the concept sounded like a gimmick and wasn’t actually going to be that great of a formula for either side. But I was wrong! I actually really enjoy both the pencil side and the liquid liner side- and I have such a hard time with liquid liner. I love that the pencil side is mechanical. The formula is nice and creamy but also doesn’t smudge on me and lasts all day. The tip allows you to get really close to the lash line because the pencil itself is so small. Crucial for me having smaller eyes! The liquid side is going to take practice for me since I’m not used to it but the fine point is helpful for getting in the inner corner. I’ve still been too nervous to try a winged liner with this product since I’ve yet to master that but this is such a great 2-in-1 product that I can totally see myself travelling with.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation in 120

I picked this up also because of recommendation from different beauty bloggers and thought it could be a great drugstore foundation to try out. The first thing that I’m kinda nervous about is the color. I’m not sure if I should haveimg_4787 gotten a shade or two darker or if the shade is just overall not a great match. I don’t think it looks like I’m wearing a mask or anything but for some reason I just feel like it’s not the best color match for me. I do really like the formula and it’s lasted through my entire 8 hour work day. The only bummer is that it doesn’t have a pump, but considering this is so affordable I guess it makes sense- but the glass foundation bottle feels pretty legit! Overall, I do enjoy this foundation and it doesn’t feel gross at the end of the day so I’m excited to try different primer/powder combos with this product.

Andalou Naturals Turmeric Enlight Serum

I’ve been looking for a product that will help with some fine lines on my forehead and post-acne marks on my skin. In all of my research, it seemed that Vitamin C serums were best for those issues so my search began. I decided to try out this serum because it has good reviews online and was pretty affordable compared to other serums I was looking at. I’ve been drooling over the Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum but I just cannot bite the bullet on that expensive of a product. I haven’t been using the Andalou serum consistently enough yet to decide if it really works with my skin but I haven’t noticed any irritation at all so that’s a plus for my sensitive skin!

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches

I think this product has a bit of a cult following but every time I would go into my local Ulta, the color selection was bad or they were just out of stock on most colors. So since I was placing an order, I decided to throw this in. In img_4794moving and re-organizing my makeup collection I realized I don’t have many nude shades. Another excuse to buy lip products and try the infamous shade “Tres Leches!” I loooove this product so far and am probably going to look and see if there are new shades I’d be interested in picking up. The gloss is so pigmented and smells so sweet and yummy! It also lasts for a pretty long time (without eating or drinking obviously) but doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on the lips. Now I realize why this has such a cult following and I may just have to jump on the bandwagon!

Tarte Lippie Lingerie Matte Tint in Envy

I have been looking at this product for so so long but just haven’t been able to decide on what color to get. When Ulta sent an email containing 5x the points on Tarte, I knew I had to take advantage and snag one of these! I got one of their lip crayon products in an ipsy bag and really enjoyed it so I was just dying to try this. Envy on my lips is a little more pink than the neutral nude I was looking for but this shade almost acts like a “my lips but better” shade on me which is always a great shade to have in any collection. The formula of this lip product is literally like velvet. It’s so comfortable to wear and it’s not transfer proof but the actual pigment on the lips does stay through drinking (not so much eating). I am definitely picking this up in another shade (or two). I highly recommend trying these if you haven’t already!

L’Oreal Miss Manga Voluminous Mascara

I used to be obsessed with drugstore mascaras but ever since I started getting into makeup I just can’t seem to stop with high end brands! I usually go for mascaras with volume so I figured I’d give this one a try since again, it was img_4793pretty highly rated and I had heard some people really loving this formula. When I first opened the tube, the wand of this mascara shocked me. It’s super flexible! I also love how the tip is more pointed to you can grab the small lashes in the inner corner at the same time as the longer lashes. This formula does not clump up on me even with three coats of it and I feel like it would layer nicely with a mascara primer as well! I’m pleasantly surprised and am definitely going to keep turning to this when I want some volume but don’t want to put a ton of time or energy into the application.

Tarte Double Duty Lip Sculptor in Basic

I totally gave in to this when Ulta had their Beauty Steal during the 21 Days of Beauty promotion. It was only like $11 or $12! I just couldn’t say no. Plus, I feel like this is the shade the social media girls on Tarte’s Snapchat always use img_4796when they want a nude lip. I’m low key obsessed with all of the social media girls on the Tarte Snapchat. Could explain why I’ve been obsessed with Tarte lately. Anyways, I haven’t played around with this product too much but I do find it super convenient that this has a lipstick and gloss in one product. They can be layered together or worn separately. Basic is the perfect nude shade for fair to medium skin tones and was definitely a shade I’ve been missing in my collection. This will be great to pair with the upcoming fall eye looks I plan to play with!

Maybelline Better Skin Concealer in Ivory

I’ve been trying to get my hands on this concealer forever it feels like! I’ve been playing around with drugstore concealers and have been really interested in trying this one but it was either out of stock or the shade I wanted img_4789wasn’t available. But online most things are always available so I decided to go ahead and pick this one up! I’m not sure I’ve used this enough to have a definite opinion but I will do more of a full review on this product later! The one thing I’ve noticed so far is that the stopper almost does *too* good a job limiting the product that comes out. I feel like I have to constantly dip back into the tube to apply more product to my face. But I definitely want to give the actual formula of this a fair shot- so I’ll keep you posted!

Whew- that’s everything I’ve picked up in my recent Ulta orders. I’ll be talking about some of these products more in depth in the very near future so stay tuned for upcoming posts! Have a product in mind you think I’d love? Let me know in the comments below!
