Turning into a Bag Lady: Ipsy December 2017
For some reason this was one of those months where it had felt like forever since I had gotten my last ipsy bag! I think the holidays just totally threw me off and made it feel like it had been longer than a month. This month’s theme is ipsy snowglobe, but I have to say that I don’t think any of my products relate to that theme! Check them out for yourself:
Ofra Liquid Lipstick in ipsy Unzipped
I am a big fan of Ofra’s liquid lipstick formula and did a full review here. This shade is one they came up with just for ipsy which I think is super cool. It’s a nice wearable shade that looked a little purple in the tube. But once I applied it, it is like a true berry shade with maybe a hint of a purple undertone. It’s a great everyday type of shade and could go with a simple eye look or a more dramatic one! This formula is moussey and creamy and does transfer a little bit. But somehow the color still stays put even with the transfer. I already know that this product will get a ton of use!
Smashbox Always On Gel Liner in Fishnet
Even though Smashbox is a very popular, well known brand I actually haven’t tried too many products from them. I wear eyeliner everyday and tend to prefer gel pencils so this formula looked like it could be right up my alley! This one is insanely pigmented black and on top of that, it’s also smooth and creamy to apply. It glided right onto my lids without any tugging! It is seriously one of the creamiest pencils I’ve tried in a long time. And even though I have hooded eyelids, this creamy pencil didn’t budge throughout the work day or transfer onto my eyelids! I didn’t know what to expect but I am surprisingly very impressed with this liner.
Ouai Hair Oil
What are the odds of getting this product when I was just talking about how much I wanted to try them?! The Ouai Hair Oil is supposed to protect hair from heat damage, help your color last longer and calm your frizz. I feel like this is something you have to use for an extended period of time to see the full benefits. It also does have a perfume scent to it- it’s like a light floral. But I will say that my hair did look sleeker than normal after using this. And I barely had any frizz! I am a little nervous that the oil weighs my hair down a bit too much for my liking. But I definitely have to play around with it to know for sure!
Trestique Mini Brow Pencil in Americano
I have been pretty loyal with my eyebrow products for a really long time now so I was nervous to try this. Based on the packaging, I was expecting a crayon type deal for the product which scared me. But to my surprise, the pencil is teardrop shaped just like my favorite Benefit pencil! The shade is lighter and ashier than I normally go for since I like to pick up on the caramel tones in my hair. But it still worked for my brows and gave a more natural look overall which was nice. The pencil isn’t as creamy as I’m used to but it is still pigmented. By no means is this difficult to work with and I actually think this will last longer because it is less creamy!
Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Eyeshadow in Stargazing
I seriously had no idea what to expect with this shadow. I have never even heard of Glamour Dolls before! But Lisa Frank was my jam when I was younger. I remember dying over her notebooks and folders for school! So the fact that this is now like “retro cool” is making me feel old. But the shadow is nice too! It gives a nice golden shimmer and has good pigment as well. I wouldn’t say it’s anything mind blowing but it’s a good quality shadow without much fallout or pickup. And the packaging reminds me of my childhood which is awesome! I think adding some setting spray would help kick this up a notch.
All in all, this was a pretty good month. My favorites were probably the Smashbox eyeliner and the Ofra liquid lipstick. But I can actually see myself using every single product that I got this month. Maybe I should keep shouting out products in my posts and cross my fingers that the ipsy powers will grant my wishes!
