Splurge or Save? L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation
The Infallible line from L’Oreal has gotten a ton of hype. Especially the Pro Matte and Pro Glow foundations. The Pro Glow sounds like it would be way too dewy for me, but the Pro Matte one I was all about trying. Especially for summer! This product is super affordable, but is it worth saving money on? Or is it one of those things you should be splurging on for a high end product?
This foundation retails for $13 on Ulta’s website (but there’s a sale going on now- BOGO 50% off!) and it comes in 12 shades, which really isn’t all that great. It does look like there’s an option on the deep side of the spectrum, but not a whole lot of undertone variety. This foundation has a mousse like texture, so it’s quite thick compared to other foundations. It does have pretty full coverage- you really don’t need to layer this one up at all! I find this performs
the best when working quickly and using a beauty blender. Because it’s so thick, it dries and sets pretty quickly so I like to work in sections of my face. I would be wary of this foundation if you have dry patches because it will cling to them. In those cases, I usually mix it with an oil like Tarte Maracuja Oil.
As long as you work quickly, this foundation looks great on the skin and blends pretty nicely. On me, it will last all day and I won’t even get oily! It seriously locks in and keeps me matte all day. It can look cakey if you don’t blend it out immediately so just be use to use a beauty sponge and work in sections! The formula does break up if you keep your tube in an area that is not climate controlled though. I recently had to toss mine because it had spent too much time in my travel bag. I also try not to wear this on an everyday basis because I don’t think it allows your skin to breathe through the foundation. So my dry patches might not heal and I can sometimes break out. So I just use this on days when I need something bulletproof.
In my opinion, go ahead and save your money- and grab this from the drugstore! If you want to splurge, this is pretty close to Makeup Forever’s Mat Velvet + Foundation ($41, 21 shades). The Sonia Kashuk Soft Focus Foundation (Only at Target, 6 shades) is another great option with a similar formula. If you’re combo or oily, I would definitely recommend this foundation! Dry to normal skin, I would look for a beauty oil to mix this with to make sure it doesn’t cake up on you. But overall, save your money and grab this from your local drugstore!
