Splurge or Save? L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper

July 22, 2017Reviews, , , Standard

This weekend means my last splurge or save post! July has honestly flown by. I know it’s not over yet but if the last 3-4 weeks have been any indicator, the next few weeks are gonna fly by too! This time around we’re back to the drugstore to check out L’Oreal and the Brow Stylist Plumper. Is it worth it to save your money on high end products and grab this instead?

For starters, this brow product is like a gel mascara that you use to set your eyebrows after you fill them in. You can also use this on its own just to tame down the brows or give some slight definition to. This one from L’Oreal retails for about $10 and comes in a transparent formula and 2 color tints. I have the one in Light to Medium. What’s cool about this particular product is that there are little fibers in this mascara. Which is super nice because it helps give the appearance of thicker brows. No, this is not the only product like this (Benefit Gimme Brow anyone?). But it is one of the few at the drugstore so of course I had to see if I could save some money by grabbing this instead!

Right off the bat, I can tell that this shade has a warmer undertone than the Shade 3 I normally use from Benefit. That is actually a plus for me because I’ve always thought the Gimme Brow had a grey-ish undertone. The wand on the L’Oreal one is slightly bigger which bummed me out at first because it is a little harder to get as precise. But on the other hand, I feel like application takes less time because it is bigger. On the plus side, I think the fibers in the L’Oreal one apply better and I notice more of a difference. Another plus, the L’Oreal one comes with .27oz of product where the Benefit one only comes with .1oz. And it’s more than double the price! I don’t know about you, but the winner in this one to be is pretty clear.

So the verdict? Definitely grab this and save your money instead of going high end. This works just as well as high end alternatives. I like the undertone and the formula of the L’Oreal one more! And sadly, this the last post in this splurge or save series! Did you like this series overall? If so, leave me a comment and let me know! I’d love future suggestions as well!
