Hue Review: Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush

June 29, 2017Reviews, Standard

Today we’re continuing the perfect blush hunt! I heard some people raving about Wet n Wild’s new formula for their Color Icon blushes so I decided to pick one up and do a review for you guys! Wet n Wild is extremely affordable. So I was hoping this would be great quality at a great price!

The very first thing I noticed about this range of blushes is the lack of shades. This range of blushes only comes in 5 shades which is a total bummer to me. Not only that, but I don’t think a wide range of skin tones will be able to use these. There is maybe 1 or 2 options for fair skin and maybe 1 or 2 for medium skin, but sadly I don’t think any range of deeper skin tones will be able to use these. There miiiight be a shade that would work as a natural blush though depending on the undertones. Anyways, the shade range is the huge bummer for me. There really isn’t a whole lot of selection which is a shame because these are nice blushes.

The formula is super creamy so there is some pickup when you dip your brush in. But creamy pickup normally means pigmented and very blendable so I’ll take it! I have the shade Mellow Wine which is a bolder shade than I would normally pick. It’s a warm rose kind of shade and is completely matte. I barely have to use any product and I get a great payoff that doesn’t fade throughout the day! These babies are $3 and in my opinion are totally worth it. The blendability and pigmentation are so great, especially since drugstore blushes can be so hit or miss. The other 4 shades do appear to have some shimmer, but I’m hoping that won’t be as noticeable on the skin. Because Apri-cot in the Middle is calling my name! This brand is also cruelty free which I think is pretty rare in drugstore brands.

So, if you’re new to blush or are in the market I would definitely recommend these! They’re super inexpensive and perform just as well as my high end blushes (and even better than others!). The limited shade range bums me out, but hopefully they’ll expand once they realize how much people love this formula!
