October Favorites 2017
I’ve been trying out a few new products and have rediscovered some old favorites this month! October has been a little busier than I anticipated so of course the month has just flown by. Hence why my favorites post is coming out in November instead of the end of October. But I still wanted to share my fav products with you this month, so here we go:
Dose of Colors Lipstick in No Shade
I do feel a little bad mentioning this, but as I am writing this post it’s still available! Desi Perkins and Lustrelux (aka Katy) collaborated with Dose of Colors to come out with a whole collection. I just picked up 2 things, and this lipstick is one of them. When I was looking at swatches, I was nervous this would be too light for me but I am seriously obsessed. I could easily wear this on its own but normally I pair it with a nude lipliner. I love the peach undertone and the formula is so smooth and creamy! Since it’s more of a satin matte, it doesn’t last as long as a matte lipstick. But it’s so comfortable on the lips! It’s also vegan and cruelty free which is awesome because it’s a great formula. It was my first Dose of Colors lipstick and I am impressed!
L’Oreal Infallible Blend Artist Sponge
I’ve talked about this sponge a few times now but it is one of my fav sponges from the drugstore at the moment! I may even like it more than the Real Techniques one. I love the ridge because my hand fits perfectly in there. The point is good for the undereye and any other concealer while the rounded part blends foundation easily. This is a little denser than most sponges but that’s actually one of the things I like most about it! It doesn’t soak up a ton of excess product and helps you get fuller coverage. I like to get the most out of my foundation products so I get super upset when a sponge soaks up a half pump of foundation! With this sponge I get the coverage I want and quick and easy blending. Win-win.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
This is not a new product for me but it’s definitely been rediscovered lately. I have so many bronzers that I’ve been hoarding through the summer. But I picked up the Chocolate Soleil again one day this month and haven’t stopped using it! The powder is so smooth (and smells delicious). It blends out very quickly and easily, which is great because I’ve been trying to get ready quicker in the morning. The undertone is warm enough where you get a nice sun-kissed look. But it doesn’t look orange or muddy on my skin. It’s also cool enough where it gives slight definition to the face as well. I just couldn’t get over how smooth it was when I picked it up again! Plus it smells like chocolate. What could be better than that?!
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara
I recently did a worth the hype post on this product where I go into more detail. You can check it out here. Anyways, this mascara is affordable and rivals some of my high end products! It definitely reminds me of the Better Than Sex mascara but without all the flaking issues. Even the wand is similar. It has a little curve in the middle and the bristles are natural. I have noticed that the wand has gotten clumpy with time. But I just wipe off the excess product and none of the clumps make it to my lashes. This mascara is nicely pigmented and the volume it gives my lashes is amazing! Seriously, if you are all about volume mascaras and don’t own this- you need it. It’s affordable and performs wonders on my lashes!
Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick
I went back and forth about this foundation for the longest time. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever mentioned it before! I’ve been wanting to try it for the longest time but the $46 price tag was holding me back. It comes in 26 shades and I picked up the shade Nude. I think it’s a little yellow and overall I think the shade range could use some additions. But I love how the shades include skin tone and undertone descriptions online! I only use a flat top brush with this foundation- it blends much easier that way. It has pretty full coverage but has more of a natural satin finish. It’s very creamy so I have to use a non-silicone primer underneath. But it’s so easy to apply and makes my skin look flawless. I keep going back to it and I’m liking it more and more!
So. those are all the products I loved in October. I’ve already been testing out new products and I have my eyes on even more. Hopefully some of them are a hit and my next favorites post will be chock full of new goodies! In the meantime, I’d love to hear your suggestions and favs for the month.
