For the last post in this series (I know, so sad!), we’ll talk about Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes mascara. This mascara is a great addition to any collection. It actually used to be my go-to before I discovered Benefit’s Roller Lash. I’m a huge fan of Tarte’s products and this mascara is what got me hooked on Tarte! Now, let’s get to the breakdown:

For starters, Lights Camera Lashes has a natural bristle brush. Besides that, the physical brush for this mascara isn’t special or revolutionary. It’s a pretty standard wand. But, I love natural bristles and this shape makes it easy to coat your lashes-. You can reach the inner Lights Camera Lashes Mascaracorner lashes without risk of poking your eye out. Tarte also released a dual-ended version of the mascara. It has the normal bristle brush at one end. The other end has a teeny brush that would be perfect for the lower lash line! As for the one I own, the claims on Ulta’s website say that this is a 4-in-1 mascara that is like a “push up bra for your lashes.” Now I don’t know about all of that but this mascara lengthens, curls, volumizes, and conditions your lashes.

In my experience, some of the claims are pretty accurate. I have honestly never had any mascara actually condition my lashes. But, Lights Camera Lashes is great for volume. Plus, it’s easily layered to get a dramatic effect if desired. I think this also does a pretty great job of lengthening my lashes as well. Who doesn’t want a mascara that would lengthen and volumize at the same time?! But, I did not find that this mascara curled my lashes at all- especially after comparing it to the Roller Lash mascara. In fact, I think this formula is a bit heavy and weighed down my lashed throughout the day.

I use a lash curler before applying mascara and with this mascara, I would notice that my curl did not last very long compared to when I first applied. I used to think that this was just how it was when it came to curled lashes and mascara but now I know better! I’ve had my tube for a while now but I haven’t noticed any problems with the formula flaking or clumping on me which is great. The best way that I found to apply this mascara is to wiggle it at the roots of the lash and keep zig-zagging the wand until you get to the tips. I’ve heard people say this clumps and flakes but I’ve never had that problem!

All in all, this was the first mascara that I owned which made me ditch all of my drugstore mascara. Before I bought this, I thought there was no real point in splurging on mascara because all formulas were made the same. So thank you Tarte for showing me the light and starting the addiction! While Benefit’s Roller Lash is my new love, this is great mascara that will give your lashes volume and length in one which is a great thing to have in your collection! I hope everyone liked this series- if you have suggestions for the next series please let me know!
