Battle of the Liquid Lipsticks: Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick
This post is prettttty late since it was supposed to go up on Saturday, but I promise I have a good excuse! I had some personal things come up that threw my weekend into a frenzy. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but I’ll just say that I was in the hospital for a good portion of my weekend (as a visitor).
Anyways, I’ll just get right into today’s post. It’s the very last one of my liquid lip series (for now of course). We’re going back to the high end side for this post and focusing on Too Faced’s melted Matte formula. I got mine at Ulta, but it’s available as Sephora and other online retailers as well. It comes in 22 shades and has quite a range from the bold to the trend to the neutral! I do have to be honest though and say that their neutrals don’t really do it for me. The swatches look nice but they pull very cool toned on my lips! I picked up the shade Child Star, which looks like a pinky nude in the tube. But on my lips it’s more of a cool/grey toned milky nude. Very strange but luckily I can make it work with lip liner!
The formula itself is actually really nice! It has a standard doe foot applicator which makes life easy and the consistency is honestly like a mousse-liquid hybrid. It’s not super thick but not thin and runny either! It dries down to a complete matte and sets really quickly. I would say less than 5 minutes for sure. It is completely transfer proof which is a huge win in my book! It does feel pretty drying quicker than my other liquid lippies though. I would say it gets a little dry and uncomfortable after 5-6 hours. If you’re looking to pick this up, I would look out closely for the undertones. The shade I picked up isn’t my fav but there are a ton of options. I do hope they come out with more because their neutrals especially all lean cool/grey toned.
All in all, I do really like the formula of these liquid lippies but the neutral shade range just bums me out. There are such pretty pinky nudes but they all pull cool toned on me! Anyone else have this problem? There are some bright shades that would be perfect for summer though! If you have formula suggestions for my next liquid lippie series- let me know down below!
