Hue Review: Elf Mineral Infused Primer
I’ve discovered that I have a really hard time spending money on primers. I can spend high end money on lip products and eyeshadows. But it’s much harder to justify that money on a primer. It’s just not as fun! So I’ve been on the hunt for a decent affordable primer. I usually go for something smoothing or pore-filling. And I obviously don’t want it to clog my pores. I saw this Elf one and figured I’d put it to the test!
First of all, can we take a minute to appreciate that this primer comes with a pump? It makes life so much easier! Elf is an affordable brand, so this primer retails for $6 at Ulta. It does only have .49 oz of product which is half the size of standard primer. But even if you buy 2 to get the full 1 oz, it would be only $12 ! This primer does have a few other formulations, but the clear one was most up my alley. This is supposed to be a multipurpose primer that will fill in pores and fine lines while combatting oil and preventing flakiness. I have combination skin that has been leaning more oily lately. So I can’t really speak to the preventing flakiness claim.
But I have been trying this out for a while and it’s impressed me! I’ve been opting to use this one when I travel. And I’ve been using it as a primer for the weddings I’ve been to recently! I won’t sit here and rave on and on about this primer because I’m not totally in love. My skin hasn’t broken out from this though or gotten any clogged pores. It smoothes out the skin really nicely and leaves a nice canvas for your foundation. I won’t compare this to a high end primer or say it’s a dupe for anything. Because I don’t think it is. But it is a really great option for primer that I will probably repurchase!
If you have suggestions for other drugstore primers you want me to try or ones you think I’ll love, please let me know in the comments below! This Elf Mineral Infused Primer is a great option if you’re looking for a primer that will smooth out the skin and slightly fill in your pores. They also have a redness reducing one, a radiance one, and a brightening one. So there are great options depending on your skin concern!
