December Favorites 2017

December 29, 2017Favorites, , , , Standard

Ok so I dropped the ball again and I have a pretty pathetic reason for it. I literally spent my day yesterday watching the 6 hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. It’s just such a great storyline and I love Jane Austen. I really need to read more of her work! And yes, the 6 hour version is better than the version with Kiera Knightly. Trust me. Anyways, before the year comes to a close I wanted to share my December favorites!

ColourPop Concealer in Light Neutral

I got this concealer a while ago and it is becoming one of my daily go-tos! My skin has been dehydrated in general so I have been trying to use a less matte concealer. I still love my Shape Tape, but this ColourPop concealer is great for lighter makeup days. It doesn’t have as much product as other concealers, but the price is oh so right. There are 15 shades with a pretty wide skin tone range and they only cost $6! They blend out really easily and provides a medium coverage. I prefer to blend it out with a sponge for maximum coverage, as it can be streaky with a brush in my opinion. But I love the natural dewy finish this leaves, especially for days my skin needs extra moisture!

Too Faced Born this Way Foundation

This is definitely a holy grail product for me. I believe I’ve mentioned it before but I have gone back to it recently. So of course I had to mention it again! This foundation is high end so it’ll run you $39 and it comes in 24 shades now with a great range for all skin tones. I am crazy about this foundation mainly because of the finish. It has medium coverage I would say and an amazing natural satin finish. I also get a solid 8 hours of wear with this with just setting my concealer. It doesn’t break me out or clog my pores either. I think it would work great with any skin type as well. But if you are oily, you will probably need to blot and use a mattifying primer.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Sensual

I’ve been trying not to mention Tarte products too much lately since I know I’ve been shouting them out a lot lately. But for these colder months, I have been loving a more neutral blush. And this one from Tarte is one of my favorites! The shade Sensual is a golden nude that I think also has a peach undertone. It has the perfect amount of pigmentation where you don’t have to worry about looking like a clown. But at the same time you don’t have to pack on the product to get it to show up. I do have several shades in this same formula but I think this one might be my favorite so far. It’s great for light makeup days but will also go with any look if you want a more smokey look.

Kat Von D Contour Shade in Sombre

Sombre is the bottom left shade

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned the Kat Von D contour kit as a whole in the past. I recently hit pan on one of the shades and knew I had to give it a shout out! It’s the shade Sombre which is the lightest cool toned shade in the palette I have. It is seriously the perfect shade for me to get that “shadow” effect under the cheekbone. So it does give some color to the cheek. But I love it especially because of the fact that it gives definition to the cheekbones without looking muddy. I have even popped it out of its palette and put it in a Z palette for travel because I love it so much. I’m not sure if this shade would work for medium to deep skin tones, but for me it’s perfect!

L to R: Aquarius Gloss, Satin Lip, Matte Lip

ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip in Aquarius

This was another new ColourPop product I included in my last haul. Whenever I want some color on the lips but know that my lips are too dry for a liquid lip, I have been going for a balm or a gloss. I feel like glosses are starting to make a comeback and this one has been a favorite of mine this month! I bought it as an Aquarius trio but the gloss is sold on its own as well. It’s just the perfect pinky nude for my skin tone with the perfect amount of shine. It’s not overly “wet” looking but the shine lasts longer than I thought it would! I’d touch my lips together and be sure that the gloss was gone but a look in the mirror proved me wrong. Plus the price is only $6 and there’s tons of other shades available!

Honestly, I might have been able to do an entire favorites post on just ColourPop products. But I wanted to be sure to vary up the products I was raving about this month! And I placed a huge Ulta order right before Christmas using my rewards points. It should all be arriving soon so my next post will be a crazy Ulta haul!
