Celeb Inspiration: Golden Globes Makeup

This celeb inspiration post will be a little different because it won’t be about just one makeup look. I did start to pull out my favorite ones and then it hit me. I highly doubt they all use the same makeup artist, but there were a ton of celebs with a similar theme to their makeup look. There were a ton of my favorite celebs with fresh faces, simple eyes, and bold lips. But all of the bold lips were in the pink, red, or berry family. So I figured I’d recreate the look for you with some options:

Pretty much all of the celebs I saw were very fresh faced. They were definitely wearing foundation, but nothing overly matte or dewy. So I would opt for something with a natural or satin finish like the Too Faced Born This Way or Maybelline Matte and Poreless. There weren’t any dramatically bright under eyes, so I would stick to a concealer shade close to your natural skin tones. Most celebrity makeup artists only conceal where absolutely necessary. I would probably use my trusty Shape Tape but a creamy pot concealer would even work here. I think a lot of makeup artists choose not to powder to keep as much as the natural look as possible. Instead they will just do touch ups throughout the event. But for those of us (like me) who would prefer to do the least amount of touch ups, definitely powder where you place concealer.

Most of the brows I saw were a bolder, feathery brow. I would go with the Anastasia Brow Wiz or NYX Micro Brow Pencil. Many of the eye looks I saw were very simple. I would maybe throw a transition shade in the crease and put a bright cream or white eyeshadow on the lids. The lashes are definitely falsies, and nothing too dramatic so something like the Iconic Lites or Ardell Demi Wispies might work well. To tone it down a notch, just layer up some volumizing mascara. There were a few celebs who went with black liner on the top lash line to really get that doe eyed effect. And some even flicked it out without going full wing. A liquid liner would definitely work best for the flick or just take any old black liner and keep it simpler!

Finishing Touches

The face powders really did vary from celeb to celeb and definitely stuck with their classic styles. Alexis has very minimal contour and her blush stood out more. Halle Berry had a natural peach flush and Zoe Kravitz went with a strong contour. So this is where you can really go with your preference. Mine would be a light contour with Kat Von D’s Contour Kit and a peachy blush like this one. Then for the star of these looks: lips. Think bolder and think berry tones. Alexis went with this Giorgio Armani lip in #600. Most of the exact lip shades haven’t been revealed yet but look for a berry or merlot type of color. Something like MAC Diva, Revlon Bombshell Red, or Makeup Forever Liquid Lipstick in Raspberry. Obviously those are just some suggestions but there are a ton of these types of shades on the market!

I think the thing that I loved  the most about seeing these trends was the fact that it would be so easy to turn into a great look for everyday! It’s also a look I love to rock in general so the fact that it made its way to the red carpet is also exciting. I would totally rock this look to the office, to an event, or even while running errands. You can easily switch up the products and still end up with a beautiful look.
