Brand Focus: Milani Cosmetics

Not gonna lie, Milani kinda took the drugstore market by storm when it first came onto the scene. It seemed like everyone was raving about the high quality products for a drugstore price. But it was so hard to get ahold of! There were only certain stores that carried it, and it seemed like the ones that did only had like 5 products. But it’s easier now so I figured I’d share what I have and let you know what’s worth it!

Rose Powder Blushes

I had the hardest time finding these, but finally found a CVS near me that has a good size Milani display! This packaging is so freaking pretty and people were raving about the formula so I was excited to try it! These blushes retail for $9 and come in 6 different shades, most of them in a matte formula. I grabbed the shade Tea Rose which is a dusty pink. I love the smooth formula of this and the pigmentation is perfect. Just a quick swirl and you get the perfect amount of color on your cheeks! Plus it doesn’t hurt that the packaging is just adorable. I do wish they had more nude shades but really I can’t think of anything bad to say about these! Pretty packaging, smooth formula, great color payoff. All for a drugstore price! What more could you ask for?

Color Statement Lipliner

This was one of the first products that people started to rave about. At least that I noticed. These pencil liners are only $5 and it comes in 8 different shades. Again, not the greatest but they have an ok variety to make most shades work. I have the shade Nude and Spice because I have such a hard time with nude lipliners! This formula I really like though- it’s creamy so it doesn’t drag on the lips. But it has a great wear time too. The undertones are also perfect for me, which is so crucial because I’ve found my that lip shade pulls out the purple in everything! I might consider grabbing one of the deeper shades like Bordeaux because these are so comfy on the lips. And have I mentioned they’re only $5? Just go grab the Nude and you’ll see what I mean!

Amore Matte Lip Creme

This product originally was only released as a limited edition item. But people lost their minds over this formula so they brought back different shades but in a permanent line. They also have a metallic version if you’re trend but that’s not my style. This formula is Milani’s longwear liquid lipstick. It comes in 35 colors and retails for $9. First of all, my jaw just dropped looking at these shades online! My local CVS only has like 8 shades. So rude. I have the shade Precious which is rose with a cool undertone. It is a super comfy formula that has a creamy texture. Normally that means that they don’t last long but I loved these! I forgot I was wearing a liquid lip! I guess I’ll have to do more digging and get my hands on some of these other shades! Definitely recommend these to everyone.

Conceal + Perfect Foundation

There were SO. MANY. PEOPLE. that raved about this product! It was supposed to be a full coverage foundation and a great dupe for the Clinque Beyond Perfecting Foundation. It comes in 19 shades and is only $10! The shade range is seriously amazing for a drugstore foundation. I wanted to love this so badly. But the second I put this on my face it burned. Like a hot burn. Not good. Because I like to torture myself, I left it on (!!!) for like 5 minutes and it did not get better. In fact, I think it got worse! I took it off my face and returned it back to my local CVS. I will say that it’s possible I got a bad one because the applicator was broken. I don’t think I would ever try it again out of fear though. But, if you have sensitive skin- beware!

Kohl Kajal Eyeliner

I originally was going to put this in a “meh” category because it didn’t bother me that much. But then I thought about it more and decided that wasn’t fair. This product retails for $7 and only comes in black. This product claims to be long wearing with rich black pigment. I will say that this is a really intense black. And the formula is nice and creamy. Probably the creamiest kohl liner I’ve tried. If you’re only wearing this on the top lash line, you’re golden. But that’s where the gold ends. I put this on my waterline and like 3 hours later, the liner had smudged onto my lower lash line. It didn’t look bad- just like I had lined my lower lash line. But I didn’t. And if I had oilier eyelids, who knows how much worse it could have been! So, this one’s a miss.

The only other product I own that I didn’t mention are the Milani Baked Blushes. I own 2 shades- Coralista and Luminoso. Luminoso is a cult favorite and it is a really pretty coral peach with a sheen. But Coralista is a glittery mess. So very hit or miss- buyer beware! On the whole, I think Milani is like many other drugstore brands. Some products they nail, and others they don’t. I think you’re safe if you stick to the highly raved about and well reviewed products. If you don’t stray much from that list, you won’t be disappointed!
