Battle of the Liquid Lipsticks: Wet n Wild Catsuit Lipsticks

June 3, 2017Reviews, , Standard

If you’ve been following me for a while, or if you know me personally, you know that I love a liquid lip! I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to formulas though. I need to try them all and find the best and brightest! That’s all to your benefit though- every Saturday this month I’ll highlight a new formula. Up first is Wet n Wild’s Catsuit Liquid Lipstick.

Obviously, this is a really affordable brand so these Catsuit lipsticks are at a great price. They retail for $4.99 and come in 13 different shades. The shade range is actually pretty decent too! There’s vampy shades like Goth Topic or more neutral ones like Nudist Peach. I picked mine up at Target I think, but they’re online as well. Mine is in the shade Coral Corruption, which is like a muted coral shade. First of all, I love the applicator on these! It’s a doe foot but with a curve. I find that it hugs your lips perfectly for smooth application. And the tip is perfect for the edges to make sure you get a precise application! Tarte has an applicator like this too on their Quick Dry Lip Paints. I love it! It makes application (almost) foolproof!

Now for the formula. The Catsuit lipsticks have a more liquid consistency which I tend to prefer. Generally, the liquid formulas last longer but can be more drying. For this formula in particular, I prefer it to be worn alone. I tried it over a lip liner and the formula applied more streaky! It was easy to even out, but still weird. I do feel that these are comfortable on the lips for a long time (6 hours on me) before they start to feel drying. This formula is not forgiving on dry patches! I exfoliated earlier this week and thought I would be ok today, but it’s emphasizing the one dry patch I have! The big plus for me is that these are transfer proof and completely matte. Overall, it’s not my holy grail, but it might be up there as one of my fav drugstore formulas!

I think I may have to pick up another shade to make sure this formula’s consistent- maybe Missy and Fierce for summer? I have done liquid lippie battles before (see posts here, here, here, here, and here!) but now we’re on round 2! Next week, we’ll go for a higher end brand and put Anastasia’s formula to the test. If there’s a formula in particular you want me to try, let me know below!
