Battle of the Liquid Lipsticks: Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream

December 2, 2017Reviews, , Standard

In case you don’t know, Ioooove liquid lipsticks. I love the idea of putting on a product in the morning and not having to worry about it all day. I own a ton of different formulas and have a pretty wide shade range as well. So I love to put my different formulas to the test to see how they compare and help you find the best one! Today starts another series where I have 4 more formulas to test out.

We’re starting out at the drugstore with Milani. I’ve mentioned this brand a few times before and I am so stoked they are now available in Ulta! Their Amore Matte Lip Cream retails for about $9 and there are only 6 shades available online. BUT, if you shop on Milani’s website there are a whopping 33 shades. At first this formula was a limited edition and I totally missed out. But thankfully they went over so well that they re-released the formula in all kinds of new shades! I picked up the shade Precious which is a pinky nude. The applicator on this is a flat doe foot with a round tip which is a little tricky. The smell of these are divine though- like vanilla frosting!

On the other hand, the formula of these are little hard to describe. They are a little liquidy but they are somewhat creamy as well. It’s almost like a liquid-mousse hybrid which I’ve never experienced before! Application was a little tricky for me because it’s hard to get precise edges on the cupid’s bow with a rounded tip. But it has great pigmented and is not patchy at all! It does dry pretty quickly though so be careful on application. Have a Q tip on standby in case you need to touch up. This formula lasted about 9 hours on my lips without feeling uncomfortable! I did touch up after lunch a little bit because I’m a perfectionist. Oh, and this formula is transfer proof which to me is one of the things I’m looking for in my dream formula!

All in all, this is a pretty amazing drugstore formula. I think this easily rivals my other drugstore favorite, the Wet n Wild Catsuit Liquid Lipstick. It is somehow a creamy formula that is comfortable for an extended period of time while still being transfer proof and long lasting! I am not even sure how that’s possible. Now that I see the wide color range on Milani’s website, I feel like I have to pick up some different, bolder shades!
