Battle of the Liquid Lipsticks: Girlactik

December 23, 2017Uncategorized Standard

After hearing so much about Girlactik liquid lipsticks, I finally decided to pick some up! I’ve heard from multiple sources that their formula is one of the best out there. But because it’s a smaller brand, really the only way I’ve seen to get it is directly through their website. And since I’m always on Sephora or Ulta, I always forget about these other great brands!

Let’s get some of these details out in the open first. This is considered a high end brand so they have a price point to match others like Tarte and Smashbox. You can get the Girlactik liquid lipsticks on their website and they retail for $23. They come in 20 different shades and they are all pretty wearable. You won’t find any crazy vibrant violets or blues, and no trendy grey or browns. I’m not super into those types of shades so that’s not a dealbreaker for me. They do have a nice range of neutral, pinks, corals, and deep shades though! I wanted to try out a few different shades so I grabbed this Her Trio which lets you pick 3 minis for $33. In hindsight, the minis are smaller than I expected but it worked for my purposes.

I picked up the shades Allure, Demure, and Posh which is a classic neutral pink, a deeper mauve and a pinky nude. The applicator is a doe foot but slightly elongated so the flat part holds more product. The Girlactik liquid lipsticks do have a mousse-like consistency but it’s not a full mousse like other brands. It’s almost a hybrid. Application with this formula is super easy and the color is nice and opaque. The color doesn’t settle into any lines and I didn’t notice any feathering throughout the day. I have to say that this is one of the most comfortable formulas I have ever tried! I literally forgot I was wearing lipstick on the days I was trying these out! They do transfer and fade in the middle of the lips with oily foods, but my lips were dry and I still couldn’t feel this on my lips!

Overall I was extremely impressed with this formula and I definitely want to pick up more shades. I might even grab a few full sized tubes once my minis run out! It was a super impressive formula to me, and that’s saying a lot because I’ve tried about 15 different formulas so far. If you have drier lips or are looking for a comfortable formula and don’t mind the transfer, I would highly recommend this!
