April Favorites

Holy crap. April is over and Monday means May. Cue the JT memes! I seriously cannot believe how quickly this month went and I just know May will fly by too. I’m travelling for work for almost 2 full weeks so May will be even faster for me! Anyways, here are my favs for the month:

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Berlin

This is a pretty new purchase for me and I’m obsessed. I already knew that I loved Kat Von D’s formula, so I decided to grab a shade that was more Spring-like. This shade is described as a warm rose and I guess I agree. Actually I have no idea how to describe this shade besides bomb. It is just the perfect bold coraly pink on my lips. I literally feel like I can take on the world with this lip color! Just obsessed. Obviously the pigmentation is great and I like this formula. It is a little drying but the longevity I get with this totally makes up for it. As long as I avoid oily foods/eat them carefully, I can wear this all day! Plus if you do have oily foods, a second layer doesn’t look weird.

Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Neutral

This is a cult fav for a reason. I know I’ve mentioned this 1000 times before but y’all. I’m telling you. Just go get this. I love the matte finish it has which somehow doesn’t look dry or cakey. I can conceal and highlight in one step which is an awesome time saver for me. It has ridiculous coverage and would be great for blemishes too if you got a shade close to your natural skin tone. I do normally set with powder but I honestly might get away with not needing to. Maybe I’ll try that soon. The only bonus is that you just need the smallest amount on a daily basis so I think a normal tube lasts longer!

Maybelline Matte + Poreless Foundation in 120

More matte products. Can you tell Spring is coming and my face is getting oilier? When I first got this foundation, I thought it was so plain. I didn’t really love it and never reached for it. Now, I’ve purchased in a darker color since I’m low and summer is coming. I really like the finish of this! It’s matte but doesn’t look flat or powdery. I do prefer to set it and use a pore minimizer underneath but it’s not drying on the skin. SInce I have combo skin, that is huge. It also doesn’t break up or get cakey throughout the day. I’m kinda surprised I changed my mind on this but it’s a great foundation from the drugstore in my opinion!

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Milk Chocolate

Yes bronzing is super in now and I am ready. This is a new bronzer that I have been wearing out this month! I love that it gives shape to the face when you contour with it but it also gives such nice color to the face. It’s not orange or ashy- seriously the perfect shade for my skintone! I also love that they have 2 shades deeper than this one so there’s a great range for all skintones! It’s so smooth and creamy in the pan but also with a brush. I’ve never had issues with patchiness or skipping and it wears so nicely throughout the day. This is going to give my Hoola bronzer a serious run for its money. Maybe I’ll do an in depth comparison post for y’all! Let me know if it’s something you’d wanna see!

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter

I have probably mentioned this highlight before too, but seriously. Can you just go buy it? If you’re oily or have texture and worry about highlighters doing all of the wrong things for your face. I know. I’m here for you. Go get this– it’s only $4.50! This baby is so smooth and creamy and applies so nicely to the face. It’s a more subtle highlight that you’d probably only notice if you caught the light just so. It doesn’t emphasize my texture and looks so natural on the skin. I’m not sure how it would look on deep skin tones though. Generally speaking, I think this could be a nice versatile shade on many skin tones. I love the natural glow that gives me!

So basically April was all about a matte face with some subtle glow. I’m thinking May’s looks might end up similar! But with all the work travel, maybe a more “on the go” look is going to be my reality. Either way, the flowers are starting to bloom and I have some pep in my step now that the weather is nice again!
