I’ve never really been a huge fan of resolutions for New Year’s. Mainly because I think people usually forget about them in a month. I just think it’s difficult for someone to suddenly change their routine just because it’s a certain date of the year. That’s why I tend to only make beauty resolutions.
But I have been liking the idea of goal setting more and more. So let’s talk about #goals. And no, I’m not talking about having the perfect life, or hair, or nails, or whatever. I think the most important part about setting goals is that they’re attainable. That doesn’t mean you have to think small. You can still set a big goal, just make sure you think it through. The key is to make sure it’s something that can actually be accomplished. Like if your goal is to get a promotion at work or land your dream job, break that big goal up into smaller ones. Like getting a special certification or getting asked to join a certain project. Then focus on hitting those smaller milestones. That will eventually lead you to accomplish your goals.
So what are my #goals this year? Well one is definitely to read more. I definitely have a tendency to spend too much time on my phone, computer, or iPad. And it’s not like I’m actually doing anything productive. It’s literally just mindless scrolling. I want to spend some time reading instead, and doing a mixture of fun reading and personal/professional development reading. The other more major goal of mine this year is to get a promotion. That goal I think is going to be more difficult because it largely depends on what positions come available at work. But I’m hoping by mapping out smaller goals and focusing on those, it will put me in the perfect position if/when a position comes open.
I know this post is kinda random but it goes along with my New Year theme this month and all the talk of resolutions. In the past few years, I’ve started to spend more time reflecting and trying to improve on many levels. I think it can be easy to be complacent in life so taking some time to think about where you want to go is key. If you’ve been thinking about goals or resolutions too, I would love to hear about them!
Hey there! I’m Trish and I’m a married twenty-something (almost 30!) with a two dogs I treat like my children! I decided to start Honest Hues to share my beauty addiction with everyone who wants to hear about it! I’ll tell you how products will actually fare for the working woman. I love everything beauty related and hope my reviews help my readers. And remember, this blog is just as much for me as it is for you.
