As per usual, the holidays this year were busier than usual so I totally forgot to post yesterday! But I wanted to make sure I got this post up while my MOTD was still fresh in my mind. I did go for a simple look, so this should be easy for most people to recreate. But of course, you can adjust it to fit your preferences!
I usually stick to my tried and true products when getting ready for family gatherings just because it’s easier and usually quicker for me. I also usually apply my foundation and concealer with a beauty sponge because again, it’s just quicker for me. Everything blends so much easier with a sponge! For my Christmas Day MOTD I went with my Too Faced Born This Way foundation. Then since the holiday madness always gets the best of me, I went with a full coverage concealer. And yes, I did go with the cult favorite Tarte Shape Tape. I do also take the concealer on my eyelids to act as a base for shadow. Then I set everything down with a translucent powder. I’m still using the RCMA No Color Powder. You just can’t beat the price for the quality (and quantity) of product!
I kept the eyes super simple. I threw some of the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in the crease using a fluffy eye brush (and then also used it on my cheeks). I also took that same shade on a pencil brush and ran it along my lower lash line. And that’s literally all I did for eyeshadow. I love eyeliner so I took the Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in a dark brown shade and added that to the top lash line. Finally, I topped it all off with mascara on the upper and lower lash line. I did get a little high maintenance with this part and used 2 different mascaras! I broke open a fresh Tarte Lights Camera Lashes for the top lashes, and stuck with my trusty Benefit Roller Lash for the bottom. Lastly, I quickly ran the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper through both brows.
Now back to the face! After I applied bronzer using the same shade of my crease, I did do a little nose contour because I just love the way it looks. For my blush, I took “Getting Handsy” from this ColourPop duo and applied it to my cheeks. To finish off the face, I took another ColourPop product to highlight. Lately, I’ve been trying out their cult favorite shade, Lunch Money. Then came the lips. I was thinking about doing a classic holiday red shade but then opted for something a little more no-fuss. So I went with the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in the shade Double Dare. It did fade a little in the center after eating dinner, but since it’s a natural shade for me I didn’t need to touch up!
My holiday look this year wasn’t as festive as it could have been, but I figured it’d be better to go with something that would require less touch ups. That way I could spend more time catching up with family, which is what it’s all about right? Plus this look can be easily adapted to go for a more bold lip. And it’s even great for beginners!
Hey there! I’m Trish and I’m a married twenty-something (almost 30!) with a two dogs I treat like my children! I decided to start Honest Hues to share my beauty addiction with everyone who wants to hear about it! I’ll tell you how products will actually fare for the working woman. I love everything beauty related and hope my reviews help my readers. And remember, this blog is just as much for me as it is for you.
