I have to be honest. This is a drugstore brand I really don’t have much experience with. In fact, I’m pretty sure this lipstick is the only thing I own from them! For some reason, this lipstick formula and a specific shade was on my grab list. I believe it was one of my beauty gurus that recommended it, but I can’t remember who! Anyways- let’s get to the review:
Since this is a drugstore brand, this lipstick is priced pretty reasonably. It retails for $7 at Ulta and comes in 10 different shades. I actually am a little concerned these might be discontinuing because they have 13 shades on the Catrice site. But none of them are available! The packaging is pretty standard for a lipstick. But to me it looks a little higher end than other drugstore packaging I’ve seen. The lipstick itself has a standard shape and the brand name is imprinted into the product itself. Pretty cool. The Catrice lipsticks claim to have great pigment and a creamy texture that lasts for hours. It definitely has a creamy satin finish to it. The shade on my list was Nude-tastic which actually isn’t on the Ulta site anymore. It is a super pale nude. Probably the palest shade I own.
Not gonna lie, this color scared me when I first used it. I was like why in the hell was this on my list?! But now that I’ve played around with it a little more, it’s been growing on me. This formula is super creamy so the color really glides effortlessly on your lips. It’s also has great pigment. So I definitely applied way too much when I first tried this! I don’t really agree that it’s super long lasting though. Maybe if you’re just wearing this around, it’s be ok. But it’s not really going to last through drinking from a glass. You’ll definitely have to reapply throughout the day. I’ve been liking this more paired with a deeper nude lip liner. I use the slightest amount in the center and blend it outwards. It gives a “highlighted” effect that I think makes my lips look a little plumper.
All in all, this is a pretty great drugstore formula! The Catrice lipstick is comparable to other affordable formulas price-wise. It’s super creamy which will leave your lips feeling moisturized. Plus it’s pigmented and easy to apply. The only thing about this is that they may be discontinuing this- or retiring some shades. So pick one up while you still can!
