2017 Year in Review

I decided to do something a little bit different this year for our 2017 Year in Review. I usually round up my favorite product or two per category. But starting this month, I am going to do a dedicated post per category each month outlining my holy grails! So for my Year in Review I wanted to focus on my top 3 products that were released in 2017.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

I can’t remember exactly what month this mascara released. But it very quickly became one of the most hyped products of the year! This mascara is from the drugstore and it seriously gives high end mascaras a run for their money. I would definitely say that this is a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. And actually I think this beats the Too Faced mascara because it doesn’t flake off. This formula feels super light on the lashes and doesn’t weigh them down. But at the same time it gives amazing volume and some length as well! If you’re on the hunt for a new mascara but don’t want to shell out, definitely give this formula a try in 2018!

Tarte Tartelette Toasted Palette

This might not have been a hugely hyped product in the beauty influencer community, but it was one of my most anticipated products for 2017. I love Tarte as a brand and have been obsessed with their eyeshadows every since I got the original Tartelette palette. I love the pigment in these shadows and how easy they are to blend. There’s not a ton of fallout and I can tolerate pickup as long as the shadows blend. The shades in their newest Toasted palette are so on trend with the peachy tones that are so popular right now too! No, they’re not the first brand to come out with a peachy, warm toned eyeshadow palette. And if you have one from another brand, you can probably skip this one. But it’s definitely a frequently used palette in my collection!

ColourPop No Filter Concealer

I think the new concealer from ColourPop was released sometime over the summer, and it’s a pretty new purchase for me. The biggest hiccup that I noticed with this product is that you don’t get as much in a tube as your standard concealer. But the $6 price tag is cheaper even than most drugstore formulas so it’s no big deal to me. This is a medium coverage concealer that has a satin matte finish that I love. I still love my Shape Tape for sure but for lighter makeup days, I opt for the ColourPop formula. Plus I find that this one is more hydrating for days when my under eyes feel dry. And as an added bonus, I haven’t had huge issues with creasing as long as I set with powder!

There are definitely other products that made a huge splash this year, and are on my list to try out in 2018! I’m still debating on what goodies to grab from Fenty, so if you have any recommendations please let me know. Another raved about product from 2017 was the Stila Magnificent Metals Eyeshadow so I think that has to be added to my list too.
